Kess needed a sustainable and flexible drying solution that could not only optimize the color of its wood products, but also shorten drying and throughput times. BES Bollmann developed an innovative solution that cleverly reused existing drying kilns and equipped them with modern control systems.
Beech wood
Kess Sägewerk, a leading company in wood processing and wholesale, is known for supplying high-quality (colored) beech wood. To maintain their position as market leader and increase their flexibility, Kess sought an innovative and efficient drying solution.
In close collaboration with BES Bollmann, a smart and innovative drying solution was developed and implemented. The project focused on reusing existing drying kilns to minimize capital investment while maximizing flexibility.
The six existing drying kilns were upgraded and are now configured as follows:
Two large combination steam drying kilns
Four smaller combination steam drying kilns
In addition, all drying kilns were equipped with new, user-friendly control systems fully tailored to Kess’s specific requirements and preferences.
